Renault Kadjar problems (2015 – today)

Overview of errors and malfunctions

Severe defects

High oil consumption. With 1.2 TCe petrol engines, pay attention to high oil consumption, which can indicate excessive wear of the internal elements of the engine and consequent destruction of the engine. The problem with Kadjar is rare, but still pay attention to it. The problem usually shows up before 50,000 km, when the vehicle is still under warranty.

Injectors. With diesel 1.5 dCi engines, early injector failures occur. The problem occurs to a limited extent but still pay attention to it.

Turbocharger. 1.5 and 1.6 dCi diesel engines have problems with early turbocharger failures. Failures are at the level of problems with turbochargers for other brands of vehicles.

Other errors and shortcomings

Oil leak. For 1.2 TCe petrol engines, owners report over oil leaks in the camshaft chain cover seal.

Problem with venting the fuel tank. Several owners report the occurrence of a vacuum in the fuel tank, which is observed when the tank lid is opened. To solve the problem, it is necessary to inspect and loosen the fuel tank vent line, as otherwise we may have problems delivering fuel to the engine.

Front tire wear. In the case of predominantly diesel versions, several owners report early wear of the front tires. The problem is solved by the implementation of the chassis optics.

EDC dual-clutch transmission. Vehicles with a higher number of kilometers or vehicles driven mainly in cities have problems with shifting (slow shifting, clutch slippage, hesitant shifting,…). The problem is most often solved by a combination of reprogramming the transmission electronics and replacing individual used assemblies (lamellas, actuators).

Front wheel bearings. A growing number of owners with 1.6 dCi diesel engines are reporting early failure of the front wheel bearings.

Body defects

Wind blow. Often the owners complain about the loud wind blowing around the front door and skylight. the problem is most often solved by resetting the door and skylight.

Moisture in the headlights. Frequent occurrence of moisture in the headlights, in some cases due to poor sealing, which is resolved under warranty.

LED headlight covers. Several owners are complaining about the formation of white coatings on the inside of the LED headlights, which consequently obstruct or reduce the brightness of the headlights.

Interior faults

Gear lever cuff. Several owners complain about the poor quality of the gear lever cuff, which starts to fall apart early.

Crickets inside. Frequent occurrence of crickets in door panels and dashboard.

Electronics faults

Start & stop system. The often inconsistent operation of the Start & Stop system is most often the result of a poor battery. In individual cases, reprogramming the function also solves the problem.

Automatic braking system. Owners report a frequent occurrence of an automatic brake system failure warning. The warning usually disappears when the vehicle is restarted. In most cases, the problem is solved by reprogramming the function, but in some, rare cases, the warning actually indicates a problem with the front radar,

R-Link 2 multimedia system. Virtually all owners report problems with the operation of the R-Link multimedia system. Problems include: automatic shutdown, unresponsiveness, black screen, inability to establish a Bluetooth connection, automatic volume adjustment… .. In many cases, the problem is solved by reprogramming, in some cases it is necessary to replace the whole unit, which is usually done under warranty repair.

Alarm. Several owners are complaining about the accidental activation of the vehicle's alarm system.
