Renault Espace problems from 2002 - 2015
Renault Espace is for many people successful purchase with which they acquire a large car with plenty of space. The purchase, however, may soon turn into a catastrophe in the event of an incorrect engine choice. Be very careful before buying Renault Espace. Even if the car is regularly serviced, severe errors may occur for certain models, even under 100,000km. The problems of Renault Espace and all the problems and defects associated with it, are presented here.
Advantages:
+ spaciousness
+ comfort

Weaknesses:
- access to seats
- high fuel consumption
- severe problems with diesel engines 2.2 dCi
- Espace 3.0 V6 dCi. The very common failure of Renault Espace is the break of the engine block. The engine must be replaced completely. Very high costs. Serious defects!
- Gearbox. Problems occurred in the 6th gear. There was a transaxle break. Complete replacement required. Problems often occur even earlier than at 100,000 km.
- Catalyst. The known problem is weak welding, which leads to fracture of the frame and rapid exchange. Particularly common in 2.2 dCi engines.
- Turbines. Renault Espace has many examples of oil leaking along the turbine. The result is high oil consumption and turbine engine failure.
- Espace 2.2 dCi engines experienced frequent troubles with towers. These are the engine blocks. The cost of changing the engine is huge.
- Error on EGR valve of Espace. On diesel engines, especially at 2.2 dCi, the EGR valve was frequently dehumidified. The result: loss of engine power.
- Tires: Rapid wear on most Renault Espace models.
- Clutch: Most often with the Espace 2.2 dCi, there is a failure of the hydraulic clutch. The pedal remains on the floor. Compulsory replacement.
- In the headlights there is oxidation. The front headlamps need to be replaced.
Interior and wear:
- The quality of the interior materials is excellent. There are no complaints.
- Electrics. Different errors due to an error in the central computer. The most common mistakes are related to cruise control, short circuit meter, fuel gauge, wipers.
- There are warning lights, although nothing is wrong. The error can be resolved by resuming the computer.
- Espace 2.0 turbo engine and 2.2 dCi engine. Fault on deadlock sensor (TDC) sensor. Motor errors occur. The vehicles were repaired with a call.
- Espace 3.5 V6 gasoline engine. Errors on the TDC sensor and the camshaft sensor.
- Additional heating (webasto). Short-circuit risk. The error occurred until 2004.
- A lot of errors occur in models that have a built-in keyless entry system - card system. The card often fails.
- September 2003. Warning on electric handbrake.
- March 2004. Inquiry due to fault in the electric heater of the cab.
- November 2004. Second call for heating the cab. This time, there was an error in the restart function.
- July 2005. The Espace 1.9 DCI models (made between 1 November 2003 and 15 January 2004) had a lubrication error.
- July 2005. The Espace 3.5 V6 had faults in fuel injection electronics.
Gasoline engine: 2.0 T (170)
The petrol engine has moderate consumption and is reliable.
Diesel engine: 2.0 (150)
It is a very successful replacement of the 2.2 DCI model. 2.2. DCI is not recommended due to the major problems associated with this engine.
